BETA 2108.2 Release Notes (21 August 2018)

Known Issues

  1. Storage performance from a single VM is limited to 900K IOPs across 2 virtual drives for this beta version. Storage performance will be enhanced in the upcoming release to over 1 Million IOPs.
  2. When power cycling the Sunlight cluster, even with a Fault tolerance policy configured, automatic VM start-up is not currently supported when the cluster comes online. The Fault tolerance policy is only currently executed when the controller node stays online.
  3. Failover of network traffic between physical ethernet ports is not currently supported in this beta release. All 10 GBit ethernet ports must be connected for proper product functionality.
  4. Failover of the Sunlight controller is not supported in this beta release. Removal or failure of the master node will result in loss of access to the Sunlight dashboard. Restoration of the database of the master node following the re-installation procedure is not supported in this release.
  5. Migration of VMs is only supported via the fault tolerance feature on this beta version. It is not possible to manually move VMs between NexVisor nodes, since currently the controller decides of their placement.
  6. Access to the CLI is disabled in this beta version. Only dashboard access from a web browser is supported.
  7. Multi-user and RBAC support is not supported in this version.
  8. Changing the password for the default administrator user is not supported in the beta.
  9. During the beta program all upgrades will require the controller and slave nodes to be powered down. Upgrade/install is achieved via the boot configuration option.

In Development - targetted for an upcoming release

  1. Backup and restore of VM data to a remote storage target.
  2. Automated failover of the Sunlight controller service in the event of failure.
  3. Manual placement and transfer of VMs between different NexVisor nodes through the UI
  4. Remote access to the CLI via an ssh connection to the controller.
  5. Windows guest support.
  6. Graphical mode console support.
  7. Multi-user support with Role Based Access Control
  8. Striping of volumes across multiple physical NVMe drives to enable larger volume capacity and for enhancing single drive performance to more than 1 Million IOPs.
  9. Increased NIC speed support to 25/50/100gbit. Supported Hardware revisions are planned in 2019 to accommodate faster NIC speeds. Sunlight will be releasing a custom 100gbit/s acceleration card that will significantly enhance virtualised NIC performance.
  10. Online Upgrade Support.
