Instance Template Management
This section refers to the ability of the user to automatically enable/disable an image template that exists locally or download it from a remote repository. So, in order to execute the above mentioned actions in existing available templates, user can click on the 'Image Templates' button as shown in the below figure and perform the following actions.
Local/Remote Image Templates
First of all, we have two separate repositories. The first one is the local repo, where you can find the image templates that are located locally and are immediately available to be used.The second repo is the remote repository (offered by Sunlight.io) which contains the image templates that are stored in a cloud repository and can be downloaded from the user locally.
As you can see, this is obviously illustrated in the following figures. In the Local repo all distributions are indicated as Local in contrast to the Remote repo where templates are indicated as Remote and could be downloaded for use locally.
Enable/Disable/Delete Local Templates
In case of a user would like to create a VM instance using one of these available local image templates, the desired template status of this instance should be enabled. Therefore, the user should click on action button for this correspoding template as shown on the next image and click the Enable option.
On the other hand, the user is also able to deactivate an already enabled template from the local repo by clicking on the disable option.
Apart from these, every user is able to delete either 'enabled' or 'disabled' local templates as it is shown in the figure below.
Download Remote Template
As mentioned above, the user can download a remote template from the remote repo in order to use it for an instance creation. In order to be able to do that, the user can click on 'Remote' tab repo and click on the 'Download' option f. This is illustrated in the following figure.
After that a box will be come up on your screen and ask you to confirm this action. Click 'OK' and proceed to download it.
At the end, you can observe now the status of this corresponding template is shown as "downloading" in the local repo. You should wait for a few minutes in order for the status to become 'enabled'.
Image Template Type
Now the user is ready to create a new VM instance based on the enabled image templates that already exist in the local repo. In addition, the user can distinguish the type (hvm or pv) of the template after the uderscore of the distro name as it is shown in the following figure.
